MOSCOW: The deputy chair of Russia’s national Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, described the deadly strike on a hospital in the Gaza Strip as a "heinous military crime," adding that the United States bears the ultimate responsibility for the tragedy.
"The heinous strike on a hospital in the Gaza Strip undoubtedly constitutes a war crime. And the ultimate responsibility for it rests on the shoulders of those who are cynically profiting on wars in different countries on different continents, <…> on the United States of America," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel.
In his words, Washington is also "allocating enormous sums for arms contracts, giving work to its defense sector" and "making deceitful proclamations about its global quest to defend democratic values."
Arab media reported that several powerful blasts rocked central districts of Gaza on Tuesday, dealing major damage to a local hospital building. The Al Hadath television attributed the explosions to an air strike delivered by Israel’s Air Force. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said with reference to "intelligence from multiple sources" that "Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza." According to Al Arabiya’s latest casualty report, the number of those killed and injured in the tragedy has exceeded 800.
