NEW YORK:  Chinese President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with Donald Trump congratulating him on the victory in the US presidential election, CNN reported citing its unidentified sources.

However, according to CNN, when asked about the reported telephone conversation between Xi and Trump the Chinese Embassy in Washington responded that it had no commentaries to make regarding this information.

Reached by a TASS correspondent, the Chinese Embassy in Washington stated that it had no comments to make regarding the alleged telephone conversation between Trump and Xi.

"Unfortunately, we have no comments to make," a spokesman for the embassy told a TASS correspondent in response to confirm previous CNN reports on the issue.
