Zelensky announces work on new action plan

MOSCOW: Vladimir Zelensky has announced that he is going to present a new plan for Ukraine.

"A total of 10 points that will be presented next week," he said in a video posted to his Telegram channl.

The plan, he said, will include points on security, energy and armaments, among other things.

In terms of weapons, the plan will focus on production in Ukraine and cooperation with partners. That’s after Ukrainian lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko (placed on the list of terrorists and extremist in Russia) said that any initiatives where Kiev has to rely on Western partners are getting to a point where they lose any chances of being implemented.

Furthermore, one of the plan’s points will be about "cultural sovereignty." Even as Ukrainian forces are struggling on the battlefield, Zelensky paid this idea the most attention in his video. The point calls, among other things, for producing "Ukrainian content."

On October 28, Zelensky conceded a risk that the US would stop supporting Ukraine if Donald Trump won the presidential election. For that turn of events, he told European journalists, Kiev has a plan. Four days earlier, Zelensky announced that he had ordered the Security Council to work on an "internal plan to strengthen Ukraine," which concerns, among other things, the battlefield, the defense industry, the economy and finance.

Criticism of the plan

The details about Zelensky's new plan have already sparked negative reactions.

"I'm currently a bit confused and can't really count all of Zelensky's plans," lawmaker Goncharenko wrote on Telegram.

The lawmaker, member of the party that is led by former President Pyotr Poroshenko, criticized Zelensky for calling each of his plans either "powerful" or a "victory plan."

Goncharenko reminded Zelensky of a very difficult situation in the Kupyansk area, the threat of encirclement of Kurakhovo, and that doctors are being moved to infantry because of a lack of troops. The lawmaker said it is impossible to win just by making more plans.
