NEW YORK: US billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk who heads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has praised the competence of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov.

"This is what competent leadership looks like," Musk wrote on the X social media platform, commenting on the Russian delegation’s arrival in Saudi Arabia for talks with a US delegation.

The two countries’ delegations will hold talks in Riyadh on February 18. They are expected to discuss ways to restore the entire range of bilateral relations, as well as preparations for negotiations on resolving the Ukraine issue and a meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States.

According to CNN, the US will be represented by President Donald Trump's National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the upcoming meeting in Saudi Arabia as a positive sign but noted that it was too early to predict anything.
