LONDON: The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions against the Russian company Zservers and six individuals associated with it.
According to the list published on the website of the UK Foreign Office, London suspects the company of being involved in "facilitating crippling ransomware attacks globally."
The black list also includes the Xhost Internet Solutions provider which is active on the territory of the UK.
As the document says, this provider allegedly belongs to and is used by Zservers, being "their UK front company."
The sanctions target the following Zservers employees: Alexander Bolshakov, Alexander Mishin, Ilya Sidorov, Dmitry Bolshakov, Igor Odintsov, Vladimir Ananyev. All of them are banned from entering the UK, and their accounts in British banks will be frozen if any are found.
The Foreign Office claims that Zservers, registered in Barnaul, is involved in the leak of personal information stolen from the Australian health insurance company Medibank Private Limited.
On February 11, the US Department of the Treasury also announced sanctions against Zservers, adding that Australia has joined the restrictions.
