MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin, if asked, could speak on Ukraine at a news conference following Russia-Belarus talks on Thursday, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The Russian president is scheduled to take questions jointly with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

"Everything will depend on what reporters will ask," Peskov told TASS when asked whether the presidents will comment on issues beyond bilateral relations, such as Ukraine, following the latest statements from the US.

On March 11, US and Ukraine negotiating teams held talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A joint statement following the talks said that Kiev is ready to enact a 30-day ceasefire and sign a minerals deal with Washington. In return, the US promised to immediately restart providing Ukraine with military assistance and intelligence sharing. Moscow expects to be briefed by Washington on the outcome of the talks.
