MOSCOW: Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said during his visit to the Sarov federal nuclear center that he expected the Defense Ministry of Russia to receive new innovations soon, the ministry reported on Thursday.
"The Russian defense minister inspected the nuclear center’s innovations in the field of digital, supercomputer and laser technologies and also impulse technology. To conclude his working trip, Russian Defense Minister Belousov held a working meeting with the heads of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center and specialized military agencies, in which he assessed the activity of the center’s staff and expressed his confidence that the Defense Ministry of Russia would soon be supplied with new innovations," the ministry said in a statement.
The Russian defense chief also laid flowers at the monument to Yuly Khariton, the founder of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center in Sarov, it said.
The Russian Federal Nuclear Center in Sarov is a leading scientific research organization engaged in ensuring Russia’s national security and technological competitiveness. The Center was established in 1946 to implement the Soviet atomic project. The Center was the place where the first domestic atomic and hydrogen bombs were created.
