Thiruvananthapuram: The general council meeting of the Confederation of Online Media India (COM India) has stated that some people are trying to deliberately hunt down the digital media in Kerala and this will be dealt with strongly.
The major independent online media in Kerala are those operating under the purview of the Central Government approved Grievances Council. These media are working under the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. There are thousands of people working in online media.
People's representatives do not mind dragging COM India into unnecessary controversies, which works for the rights and welfare of digital media. Like all media organizations, COM India also works with great responsibility.
It is shameful that a person sworn in as an MLA as per the constitution is challenging a well-functioning media organization and media. The meeting asked the people's representatives to refrain from such anti-social acts.
The meeting also decided to approach the central government to bring a law limiting the jurisdictional limit to the respective state for conducting cases related to online media.
President Vincent Nellikunnel presided. General Secretary Abdul Mujeeb made a welcome speech. Vice President Soi Mon Mathew, Joint Secretary Ajay Muthana and Treasurer KK Sreejith led the discussions.
Shajan Skaria, Al Amin, Binu Falgunan, R Ratheesh and Kunhikannan Mumtat also spoke. Joint Secretary K Bijunu delivered the vote of thanks.
