SEOUL: The complex situation on the Korean Peninsula could lead to a "most destructive nuclear war," the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as saying.
"Never before have the parties to the conflict on the Korean Peninsula been in such a dangerous and intense confrontation, when the situation could turn into a most destructive nuclear war at any moment," Kim Jong Un said at the opening of a defense exhibition in Pyongyang. He added that negotiations with the US only confirmed the North Korean view that Washington’s hostile policy remains unchanged.
The North Korean leader noted that the US is increasing pressure and the level of provocations by deploying its "immense military assets" and its allies’ forces, expanding its system of military alliances with the joint use of nuclear weapons "in order to maintain and strengthen its dominance over satellite countries" and to deter the DPRK's growing power, which is becoming "an overwhelming challenge to their hegemonic policy."
