LONDON: Black Sabbath’s original lineup will reunite to play their first show in 20 years as part of a large-scale charity show this summer, BBC reported.
The concert will take place in the band's native English city of Birmingham on July 5 at the Villa Park football stadium.
The band’s classic lineup includes Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums.
Before joining his bandmates on stage, the 76-year-old Ozzy Osbourne will play his solo show, BBC adds. It is assumed that this will be the last concert in Osbourne's career.
Other iconic band that will take part in the charity show are Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Pantera, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Gojira.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale February 14. The proceeds will go to support charities that help people suffering from Parkinson's disease and seriously ill children. In 2020, Osbourne spoke publicly for the first time about his battle with Parkinson's disease.
Black Sabbath was formed in Birmingham in 1968. The band won three American Grammy Awards and sold over 75 million copies of its albums worldwide. In 2017, the musicians announced the end of their joint work. Osbourne later released two solo albums. In 2023, he announced the end of touring due to deteriorating health due to a spinal injury he received back in 2019. In total, during his more than half-century career, Osbourne has given over 2,500 concerts, including in Russia.
