TEL AVIV: Israel received a shipment of US-made MK-84 heavy aerial bombs, each weighing about 907 kilograms, after US President Donald Trump lifted a ban on their supply, the Israeli Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"A vessel carrying MK-84 heavy munitions docked and was unloaded at the Ashdod port. The munitions were loaded onto dozens of trucks and transported to Israeli Air Force bases," the statement said.
"The shipment of munitions that arrived in Israel overnight at the direction of the Trump administration represents a significant asset for the IAF and the Israel Defense Forces and serves as further proof of the strong alliance between Israel and the US," Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in the statement.
According to the Israeli minister, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth "reaffirmed in a recent conversation America's commitment to continue to provide Israel with all the tools it needs to ensure its security."
"I thank President Donald Trump and the US administration for their unwavering support for the State of Israel," Katz said.
