NEW YORK: US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent has said signing a resource deal with Ukraine is not currently in the pipeline, Jacqui Heinrich, a senior White House correspondent for Fox News, reported.
"[US] Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent tells Fox [News], `There is no signing planned’," Heinrich wrote on X.
CBS News quoted multiple sources as saying that a deal is not finalized yet, with US President Donald Trump now holding out for a "bigger, better deal."
On March 2, Bessent told CBS in an interview that the economic agreement with Ukraine was not on the table for the Trump administration "at present."
Reuters reported late on March 4 that the United States and Ukraine may sign the minerals deal within hours. Sources told the news agency that Trump may announce the signing of a deal as he will stand before Congress at 9:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday (2:00 a.m. GMT on Wednesday).
